"Abysmal GP"

Truly abysmal experience. A GP constantly making mistakes, some doctors don’t seem to care about patient concerns, lost important medical records, I can never get an appointment and now they have changed their policy so GP appointments can no longer be made in advance and can only be made on the same day at 8AM.

Then most egregious of all, they did not diagnose a family member with a severe disease and chalked every indicator they should have immediately checked as old age problems and caused them to have a very poor quality of life near the end. It was heart-breaking and devastating, only to be compounded by the fact the nurse appointed to us by local community care teams, (that team was absolutely stunning, people who provided amazing care for my family member), immediately recognised markers going back many years.

I am sick and tired incompetence, laziness and sloppiness I have experienced at this practice. I feel this just simply isn’t acceptable for a medical practice. Other NHS services in the area are good on the whole, as stated earlier, the community care teams were wonderful, helpful and friendly. We couldn’t have asked for any more from them. So it begs the question why isn’t this GP practice providing a good quality service then? Completely shocking.

The fact you have to call at 8AM to get an appointment is awful and usually by 10AM, the rest of the day is fully booked. Yet if by some ungodly luck you get an appointment, when you get there it’s a complete ghost town. I have never seen more than 5 people waiting, usually only 1 or 2. It’s just demoralising when you realise you need to go see the GP because you expect that the level of care you’ll get will be awful. There’s at best maybe one doctor who I have seen in the past few years who has actually been helpful, the others pushed off my health concerns, one of them even ignored my concerns just to talk about their upcoming holiday abroad.

Everything I’ve talked about here isn’t even isolated problems, there are many people I personally know who have had similar or other extremely frustrating and awful experiences with this practice.

Dear Irate Scotsman

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch. We are sincerely sorry to hear about the distressing issues you and your family have encountered with your GP Surgery.

GP practices are independent contractors, and each has their own system for managing feedback, concerns and complaints. In order for your concerns to be addressed, and any complaint you wish to make looked into, you should call or write to the Practice Manager at the GP practice. If you would like independent advice on providing feedback to a GP practice, including making a complaint you could contact the Patient Advice and Support Service either by calling on 0800 917 2127 (office hours) or through their website

Kind Regards

Nicole
