Some staff we met on this ward seemed uncaring about patients and their experience on the ward.
My gran who is in her 80s and lives at home without access to a shower was admitted to this ward and on the first day she was there we asked if it would be possible for her to be have a shower which we were told couldn’t happen until she was assessed by physios despite her being assisted into the shake by her bed. 3 days later still no shower and a member of staff told us my gran would not be getting a shower as they have 30 patients on the ward to look after. To me this is a shocking display of nursing care. In my opinion they have forgotten that my gran is actually still a person who deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
When we raised our concerns about my gran being discharged home still displaying symptoms of an untreated urine infection we were told to calm down and that a doctor wouldn’t be able to speak to us. This remark felt like punishment for informing them of our concerns regarding my gran being discharged without treatment for her infection.
"Not treated with dignity and respect"
