"Navigator services closed down due to lack of funding"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Cancer Services (Medical Oncology)

(as a service user),

Phoned MacMillan Navigator Services at Aberdeen ARI hospital to get my regular 3 monthly blood test results for my PSA following Prostate surgery after cancer diagnosis. They send an e mail to the department dealing with the results who, in turn, phone me with the results when they can.

They informed me that tomorrow is the last day of this MacMillan service due to them being closed down due to lack of funding!

How is this allowed to happen to a very valuable service, used by so many people with cancer concerns, within the cancer care community in Aberdeen ARI?

This can surely only lead to more pressure being put on to the valuable nursing staff.
