I recently had quite a few visits to the early pregnancy unit within the Princess Royal Maternity. Upon these visits I didn’t feel like the staff member I was seen by on all occasions apart from one was very empathetic or actually interested in my concerns.
What has really prompted me to write this opinion is that I was seen by my GP and advised her I had been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic by EPU. the doctor checked thoroughly on all systems to verify this and then called obstetrics secretaries and they confirmed the referral was never received even though it was stated on my discharge letter from EPU that this referral was made. Now had I not followed this up I could have been waiting a further 6 months thinking I was on a waiting list which I never was.
I totally appreciate that the nhs is under immense pressure but this one fault that the staff member has made could have caused significant delays to a service which could changed the chance of growing my family. I am deeply disappointed by this and feel let down by the service, hopefully if I ever have to use the service again a bit more attention will be given.
"Referral never received"
