"Children’s ED"

About: Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick children / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

We had to take our son, who is 5 years old and non verbal with autism, to children’s A&E last night. The experience we had was amazing. There was a Dr Aaron who was just fantastic, he was amazing with our son and also at involving us as parents in the discussion about what was going on. We have had a lot of experiences over the years with our son and health professionals and this Dr is one who is made for the job. The play therapist Christine was also involved who was amazing and is a huge relief for parents like us bringing our child to a medical setting. She is so empathetic and helpful with the needs of a special needs child. The staff in ED are evidently so busy and overworked but they were so amazing with us on a busy Sunday night.

Dear trappernp83,

My name is Trish McKinney and I am the Co-Director with responsibility for the Children's hospital. Thank you for taking the time to post feedback on your positive experience when attending ED in RBHSC with your son. I am really pleased that you were happy with the care provided and I will ensure that your comments are shared with staff. It will be very encouraging for Aaron and Christine to receive this feedback. I hope that your son continues to recover well.

Best wishes
Trish
