"Mental health support"

About: Adult Mental Health Community / Newark & Sherwood Local Mental Health Team (LMHT)

(as a service user),

I am a teen from Newark and received help in the psychotherapy sector in Byron house, Newark hospital. I have struggled with depression and anxiety over the past 12 years of my life, and find it difficult to speak up about it. Just last year I was introduced to Byron house and the wonderful and caring staff they have there. They are so well equipped with how to help people in my situation, or of similar background.

I greatly enjoyed attending my weekly sessions with a few different staff in my time there, all of which displayed excellent tasks and tips which I still use today to calm my anxiety.

They were never judgy or rude which made me feel safe, exactly what I need to feel in a therapy session.

I also received help from a career consultant who gave me advice on my current job and next steps to change my position. Not only this, I was given insightful advice to assist me in applying to a university this year.

Thank you to all the staff at Byron house for making my journey to recovery so easy and enjoyable, you are a credit to Newark’s mental health team.
