"Gastroenterology in Belfast Health & Social Care Trust"

About: Belfast City Hospital / Gastroenterology Belfast City Hospital / Pharmacy

(as a service user),

I have Crohn’s disease which has been relatively well managed for some time now. In the last month, I have experienced a pretty bad flare up of disease. From the second I reached out to the IBD specialist nurses, I have received amazing care. The team are so quick to call back, organised bloods & an iron infusion, and took the time to acknowledge my feelings. Every IBD nurse is compassionate and I never worry to phone their helpline for advice, Noreen has been extremely supportive any time I have needed guidance.

Dr Turner has also been nothing short of fantastic. He took my opinion into consideration when making a care plan moving forward & I felt that we were dealing with the flare together. Although I was an add on to Dr Turners clinic, never at any point did I feel rushed. He is a kind and understanding doctor who treats his patients like a person instead of a “case”.

The pharmacy team (in particular Alan) are incredibly helpful. Alan took the time to call me to ensure I understood dosages etc and ensured my medication was dispensed at a location I could access more easily and this really helped to ease my anxiety surrounding my flare up.

Thank you all - you have made a tough time so much easier with your kindness.
