"Staff have always been very nice"

About: The Dawes Family Practice

(as the patient),

I have been a patient here since its inception when the Drs Dawes split from what is now Ashworth Street Surgery and I have always been very happy with their services. I am not one who goes unless absolutely necessary but have never had a problem getting appointments when needed. Yes the phone system is a nightmare at times, occasionally dialling 30-40 times before getting through but that is the luck of the draw. The staff have always been very nice, although as is human nature trying days tell and having been argued with by patients, they don't  necessarily come back down straight  away. I have witnessed this by patients on several occasions.

My most recent visit was after having been quite unwell over the weekend and I was very surprised to get through immediately.  I requested  an appointment which I got that morning.  I took lists of recorded blood pressures and pulses which seemed to alarm him so he double checked himself, I  mentioned concerns about the Bp but he was more troubled by the pulse which was very erratic.  The weekend's symptoms  included wearing 4 layers of clothing, wrapped in a blanket with 2 heaters operating; going to bed with an electric blanket on full but not able to get feet and lower legs warm; waking up in the middle of the night absolutely dripping with sweat and the bed wet through; not wanting food or hot drinks.  The eventual diagnosis was a serious water infection for which I received a high dosage of  antibiotics  and to drink as much fluid as possible. Wanting to sleep is normal (13 hrs in one go) food  not necessary  till wanted. If not much improved return by the end of the week.
