"The excellent care I received"

About: Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Theatres, Recovery and Anaesthetics Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a service user),

I was in Inverclyde Royal Hospital recently to have a full knee replacement. I was extremely anxious about the procedure and the staff I dealt with were all fantastic. They were very understanding and reassuring and took time to explain procedures and my options.

I especially want to thank one of the nurses in Recovery - Louise. She looked after me before and after I went into theatre, especially after I had a mini meltdown just before going in to have the general anaesthetic that I had requested due to my fear. Also her care after the procedure when I was struggling in pain was exceptional. She was attentive to my needs, recognising my level of pain and advocating for me to negotiate further pain relief with doctors, thus achieving a stable level of pain management as well as reducing my overall distress. I cannot thank Louise enough and want her to know I am really grateful and thankful that she looked after me. Your work really matters and you make a difference to people.

Dear scared1970

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, and for taking the time to highlight the exceptional care you received during your knee replacement procedure. We are so pleased to hear that the staff at Inverclyde Royal Hospital, especially Louise in Recovery, made a positive impact on your experience.

It’s completely understandable to feel anxious before a procedure, and we are glad to hear that the team took the time to reassure you and explain your options. Louise’s thoughtful and compassionate care, particularly during such a vulnerable time, truly reflects the high standards we strive for within the NHS. Her ability to provide comfort and support before and after your surgery, as well as her attentiveness in managing your pain, is a wonderful example of the difference that exceptional healthcare professionals can make.

We will make sure to pass along your gratitude to Louise – she will be very touched to know how much her care meant to you. We’re proud to have such dedicated staff as part of our team, and your feedback is a reminder of the importance of the work we do in making a positive impact on people’s lives.

Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery and thanks again it really means a lot to the staff.

Kind regards

Kevin
