"Left in the dark"

About: Community Mental Health / Community Mental Health Team (Elderly)

(as a relative),

My husband who has Parkinson's was due to see the nurse at a home visit to begin the journey of discovering if he also has the beginning of dementia.  We waited over an hour passed the due time, all the time my husband becoming more anxious and agitated.

I rang the telephone number provided to be told that the nurse was on sick and wouldn't be visiting us today.  Although there was an apology, I believe that this mis-communication led to a very fraught morning.

I am very sorry to hear this and apologise for the distress this caused your husband and yourself. It is not the usual standard of service we strive to provide and very much welcome your feedback. As a result, we will look at systems we have in place for cancelling appointments when staff are unwell.
