I attended a 12 week balance - here are my comments:
The classes has improved suppleness and the continued use of exercises/Thera ban will improve body mobility and joint movement.
Walking has not improved but this is mainly down to the fact that my condition is progressive and a typical symptom of my condition is loss of balance/walking. I guess I hadn’t appreciated how quickly the progression would be.
Undoubtedly I have found the walking exercises the most enjoyable and challenging and the leaflets/write-ups are very useful
The instructors/trainers showed great enthusiasm and created a togetherness and enjoyable sessions, creating a good atmosphere and putting everyone at ease
Mentally the classes have been marvellous for both me and my wife.
18 months ago I was running 5 miles four times weekly and playing walking football 3 times weekly.
So the physical changes have been hard to accept. My reliance on others and my speech impediment means it is not often I have the confidence to go outdoors
The classes have provide a wonderful opportunity to venture outdoors, meet new people in a similar situation and have conversations (however difficult) on different subjects
I know my wife has also enjoyed meeting new people and conversations. Mentally it must be a wonderful break/change of scenery for her
Possible change:
I know each individual should challenge themselves to the best of their ability during the session but if possible it may be an idea if the person recommending could classify the individual as level 1-3 on their mobility.
It is a tad embarrassing when an individual sitting near you cannot perform an exercise
