I rushed to A&E on a Saturday in late February with symptoms I had previously had with a heart attack 5 months ago. I was greeted at the hospital door by a lovely receptionist who pointed out the wheelchairs and directed my husband to take me to A/E reception and immediately took my details.
I was, within a couple of minutes, dealt with by a very professional and caring nurse who did an ECG. I was then seen by a doctor who explained that my ECG showed no unusual signs but he recommended a stay for at least 12 hours when they could do a blood test which would show if I had had a heart attack or not.
I was admitted to Rosebank Ward and was comfortable having previously been given morphine in A/E. The blood test confirmed I had had another heart attack and they made arrangements for me to be transfered to the CCU in Raigmore for further treatment.
Throughout all staff were kind and caring. Nichola (Consultant) and her team looked after me well in Caithness General as did all the nurses in A/E and Rosebank Ward. Things were explained clearly and my permission saught before anything was done. I felt listened to and was reassured by their professionalism, knowledge and approachability. I thank you all for looking after me so well.
"Reassured by their professionalism"
