"Excellent care in A&E"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My 3 year old had some trouble breathing and had a terrible cough.

Firstly, A&E was horrendously busy. My heart went out to the staff who have to deal with that daily. Every single member of staff was amazing. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, the triage nurse was lovely and especially Dr Zoe who was brilliant.

My little boy wasn't keen on taking the steroids but several nurses and assistants were all over trying to calm him and offered him stickers, biscuits, juice. By the end of the visit he wanted to come back and see the lovely ladies.

The care we received was excellent, especially considering how busy the department was. Can't thank the staff enough.

Dear Alisonmac78,

Thank you for sharing your experience of University Hospital Hairmyres. Emergency Department.

I am sorry to hear that your son was unwell and had to attend hospital. It must be such a worrying time for you as his mum. I am so glad that our dedicated team ensured he received excellent care and looked after him so well with biscuits. I am sure he will remember the way he was treated rather than how scared he was about the steroids.

I look forward to passing on your kind words to the whole team who I am sure will be delighted to hear your feedback.

I hope your son is feeling better now.

Best Wishes,

Jenni
