(as a service user),

Just want to recognise the hard work of all the doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals that cared for me when having my wee son! Their dedication and support will be forever imprinted in my memory! My partner and I are eternally grateful for their kind, compassionate and loving care towards the three of us. From the start of my pregnancy care right through to the post partum care I have been well and truly looked after and heard by all the professionals whom iv had the pleasure of meeting.

Dr Adele  has seen me through my pregnancy and understood my three miscarriages which she dealt with sensitively and very kindly, as always she goes above and beyond her care of duty to ensure I was cared for and looked after and got all the treatments needed, even taking a call on her day to ensure I was taking the correct dosage of medication (her sectary was always very polite and helpful on the phone). Also laura was a obstetrics doctor in the diabetic clinic along with Dr Adele she was really nice and explained everything well and reassured us with any concerns. Sonia my diabetic nurse was fabulous checked in with me regularly to ensure I was on the right dose of insulin as I was new to this, she was very reassuring and kind.

Paula my community midwife based in magherafelt again was a delight and very caring towards myself and my son, nothing was a bother to her, plenty of patience and time listening to any concerns I expressed and dealt brilliantly when I took an infection in my wound where I was sent to EOU as I had a piko dressing needed changed, again staff in that unit were brillant, kind and very reassuring especially ebola (Doctor).

Laura and donna (health visitor based in maghera health centre) are fantastic and continue to care for myself and my son, laura is literally a text away and has been so kind to us and helping us care for my son's silent reflux, with us both being first time mums she has reassured us numerous times how well we are doing and is always on hand to help.

Lastly the midwives, doctors, care assistant , catering staff and domestics in AAH induction ward and maternity suite are brilliant and we were cared for so well during our 5 day duration, the care, kindness , compassion we received were above and beyond, everything was explained well and I was told what was happening at all times and kept in the loop. To mention everybody would be impossible as I unfortunately can't remember but laura G my midwife the night I gave birth was a lady to say the least, she took all my worries away and helped me through contractions by having a laugh and a joke nothing was too serious, she made it a nice relaxed atmosphere. We will always remember laura for helping us bring our little boy into this world. Julie (sister) so kind and lovely again nice relaxed person made me feel at ease, Natalie (nurse) cared for me in the induction bay such a lovely person and a sweet girl. Peter(?) the anesthetist again was brilliant and very professional so kind. Johnny I think a anesthetist also very funny guy, good fun again taking away the worries of the situation. I wish I could remember more names as I have definitely missed out on some but it's impossible to remember everyone, but they are all a credit to themselves, their families and their workforce and I for one would have been lost without them so from the bottom of our hearts we are forever grateful, thankful and blessed for you all. Thank you for making us both a mammy, having our little boy had been a tough road but a dream come through in the end šŸ’™

My name is Natalie McLaughlin, Clinical Services Manager for Renal and Endo-Diabetes.

Firstly congratulations to you and your partner on the birth of your wee son! I am sure you are both overjoyed with the arrival of this little bundle of joy.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this feedback about your experience and the care you received from the teams in the NHSCT through your pregnancy. As I manage the adult diabetes service in the NHSCT, I want to say a special thanks for mentioning Dr Adele Kennedy in your feedback. As you have noted Dr Kennedy always goes above and beyond for each and everyone of her patients. She is patient, understanding, and treats all her patients with the utmost respect. It is also very good of you to mention her secretary Mxyene, as often there are staff doing tremendous work in the background, but don't always get the public recognition for it, so I know Mxyene will be humbled to read your gratitude. Sonia is a very conscientious practitioner who works tirelessly to ensure all patients receive the highest standard of care.

I will ensure this feedback is shared with our diabetes staff.

Kind Regards

Natalie
