"Porters"

About: Victoria Hospital (Kirkcaldy)

(as a relative),

While my mother in law spent time within the Victoria hospital for several weeks, we as a family could not speak high enough for the care given by all staff. However when she would be taken away for scans we were told that she would be away for over an hour. After speaking to ward staff asking why these scans are taken so long they apologised and informed us that the porters are short staffed regularly which has a knock on effect. Days later I passed an office to see Six people in dark green and a gentleman in a shirt, tie and high visibility vest, I asked a member of staff who they were in the room to which I was told porter supervisors. When I got to the ward I found that my mother in law was away for another scan and again away for sometime. This kind of thing really saddened me as when the porter returned you could see that they were busy, so why do they require so many supervisors for this department?

Hi,

my name is John Smith, I am the Porter Manager based at the Victoria Hospital, thanks for the feedback on the care your mother in-law received whilst in the hospital, this is lovely to hear. I can only apologise for the time it took for scans to be completed, every day presents its different challenges but we continue to priorities jobs presented to the best of our ability, thanks again for the feedback.
