"Fun SALT experience"

About: Specialist Child Health & Disability / Speech and Language Therapy Services

(as a parent/guardian),

I attended the Dungannon clinic with my daughter, we were seen by speech and language therapist Keira for the first Time. She was excellent, she was friendly and well mannered. She had a lovely way with her and my daughter responded really well to her. Her assessment style was fun and it was good to see how well my daughter engaged through the play. She was very pleasant and she explained the different stage my daughter was at thought her language development. She was very complimentary and it was lovely to see her commenting on the progress my daughter is making. She reassured me that the choice of primary school I have selected will be able to support my child through her development as she is waiting for an Autism assessment. When we left the clinic my daughter said "that was fun" thank you Keira for a lovely experience :)

Thank you EMO1 for sharing your story about your daughter's appointment with Keira.

Your words reflect perfectly how Keira is at work. I feel great pride as her manager when I read about your experience. Keira is a dedicated and highly respected member of our team.

It is wonderful to hear that your daughter responded so well in play with Keira.Play is the cornerstone of what we do as speech and language therapists and I am glad that Keira's play based approach brought out the best in your daughter.

I am also pleased that you felt reassured following the appointment and more importantly that your daughter felt that it was fun.

Thank you once again for taking the time to post your story on Care Opinion. I will take great pride in sharing it with Keira and the wider team.

I wish your daughter all the best with starting school and trust that her speech, language and communication skills will continue to progress.
