"dissapointed"

went for bloods, person attempting to take bloods had false eyelashes and painted nails. 2 attempts no luck made further appointment, new attempt got a colleague 2 more attempts no joy. Left with bruising. I now get to go to Louth hospital for bloods, Not sure about professionalism or training, surely clinical staff should not be wearing pink nail varnish and false eyelashes. Both people were very nice but 3 appointments to get bloods!

That sounds like a frustrating and uncomfortable experience. While it’s good that the staff were nice, professionalism and competence are just as important—especially when it comes to clinical procedures like taking blood.

You’re absolutely right to question the appropriateness of false eyelashes and painted nails in a clinical setting. We have a uniform policy and clinical staff have to keep nails short and unpolished, and false nails or eyelashes are not to be worn

Hopefully, the staff at Louth Hospital will be able to take blood with minimal discomfort.

As we are not sure where you visited to have your bloods done, could please get in touch with our PALS team via ulth.pals@nhs.net and quote 133226. They will be able to share your story with the manager to take appropriate action and uniform reminders with their teams.
