"The unit and hospital management made my visit so much more manageable."

About: North Devon District Hospital / Chemotherapy and Day Treatment Unit

(as a service user),

I have been attending the Seamoor Unit at North Devon Hospital for a couple of years for monthly infusions for lupus. The staff are incredible. Despite being extremely busy, the nurses and all the healthcare assistants always go the extra mile to make sure you are well looked after and have everything you need to make your stay as comfortable as it can be in hospital.

I’m autistic and suffer with anxiety but the staff are so caring and try to ensure I feel safe, calm and comfortable. This is particularly necessary as if has been a regular issue getting my medication to the unit and I have often had to wait several hours for treatment.

However, this last month the hospital has made great efforts reworking their systems  to ensure my medication is ready in a more timely manner and my last visit to the unit ran incredibly smoothly. The medication was ready and prepped and I was able to have my treatment and leave in under three hours! I was delighted that all the efforts of the staff at the unit and hospital management made my visit so much more manageable.

Dear mooncat11,

Thank you so much for your positive and heartful response to the service that you have received on the Seamoor unit for your Lupus treatment.

As you have quite rightly pointed out we are always working in the background to see what we can do to simplify processes and to streamline services where we can to support the best care for our patients.

The team are amazing in the Seamoor unit and pride themselves on providing the very best patient care at all times and I will ensure that your feedback is passed back to them, so that they know how much they are appreciated.

We work closely with the pharmacy team and by all working together, this will have supported these changes.

Please do come back to me if you have any thoughts on how we could continue to improve our service.

Your time to provide this feedback is very much appreciated.

With best wishes,

Lisa

Dear mooncat11,

Thank you for your kind feedback. It's great to hear that the staff on Seamoor Unit take such good care of you during your visits.

I'm sorry that you've faced long wait times in the past, I understand how frustrating that can be. However, I am really pleased to hear that the recent service improvements have made a positive difference to your last appointment. We're always striving to enhance patient experience, so it is great to know the changes are having an impact.

I will be sure to pass your feedback to the Pharmacy team, and thank you again for taking the time to do so.

Best wishes,

Gemma
