"Unwell baby"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Unit (SSPAU)

(as a parent/guardian),

Our little 6 month old took unwell earlier in the week, we were referred to the Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Unit (SSPAU) by the GP.

We had previously been to this ward when our son was a new-born and received excellent care from all staff.

Both myself and my husband were very concerned as our baby had a rash and high temperature, from the moment we entered the ward we were in safe hands.

Greeted by the friendliest staff (Leanne and student Jess) our sons obs were taken straight away and despite him being quite unsettled the staff did an amazing job at looking after him and keeping myself and husband calm! They brought lots of toys in to keep him entertained and explained everything so well to us. Leanne even remembered us from our previous visit.

The staff on this ward are a credit to the trust, so kind and caring for their patients and the parents. I can imagine it’s an extremely tough job to deal with sick children, they do incredible work. We really appreciate the excellent care they took of our baby.

Dear Arieesli94,

Thank you so much for you lovely feedback.

It can be such a scary time when your baby is unwell and I am delighted the staff made you feel calm and in safe hands.

We are thankful to have such a wonderful team of Nurses, Healthcare assistants and student nurses who deliver safe, effective and compassionate care.

I hope your baby son is feeling better.
