"becoming a carer for my newly diagnosed husband"

About: Specialist Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Services / Older Adult Community Mental Health Team - Worcester, Ombersley and Droitwich

(as a service user),

We were referred to older adult mental health team at Perdiswell leisure club Worcester. Nervous about going but the staff were so friendly and supportive and each week we learned a lot about what could develop in the future which was quite worrying but helpful. We could ask any questions and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. I feel that there is someone I can talk to. My family is very supportive but it is good to talk to the professionals with their advice.

I would especially like to thank thank Dr McCarthy with her confirmation of the diagnosis of Dementia with Lewy bodies and her continued support. Also the lovely staff at the meetings. Will, Jo and Lisa such a very helpful friendly group. Thank you to you all.

Thank you for posting your story, it is lovely to get such positive feedback!

We are pleased to hear you found the group supportive and helpful, as we are aware that receiving a diagnosis can be a difficult and an emotional time, not only for yourself but your family as well.

We wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Thanks again from everyone at the groups.
