My son was 15 when he was diagnosed with Leukaemia. He spent the best part of 10 months in ward Lochranza in the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, Edinburgh. His play worker in the ward was Emily. We did meet a few other play workers who were all lovely but Emily was our main one. She made sure my son and all the kids always had things to do when they felt up to it. If the kids didn’t want to go to the playrooms she would ensure they had things to do in their rooms. Her attention to detail was amazing and the way she looked after the ward garden was amazing. Emily could not have done more to provide my son with things to do on the ward and she also made such special times on the ward so amazing. Seasonal events and other ward events she always made it all wonderful. For a ward with so much going on and so many sick children, Emily was able to put smiles on all the kids' faces. We will never forget Emily.
"Wonderful play worker"
