"A&E triage system"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

Went to A&E recently with husband. He had chest pains, shortness of breath and low temperature. Arrived at 23:45. Seen by doctor at 5am and out the door at 5:05.

Absurd double system of triaging meant we waited to get observations done, then saw a triage nurse, then told to wait for paperwork before going to A and E. Got to A and E about 1am. Saw another triage nurse, then waited hour and half for the bloods and ECG he needed, and then waited for the doctor.

Only the second triage nurse introduced himself out of all personnel we saw. The doctor used inappropriate medical jargon for lay people and was cold. No updates on wait times or apologies/explanations.

Everyone expects to wait in A&E, but this was ridiculous and two triangles are wholly unnecessary.

Will go elsewhere next time.
