"Midwives were absolutely fantastic with me"

About: Community Midwifery / Craigavon & Banbridge

(as a service user),

As a first time mum, I was very overwhelmed when I returned home from the hospital and was going through the baby blues.

My baby would not sleep in a crib and I was having difficulty getting her to latch for feeding, so she was crying a lot (and so was I).

The Banbridge community midwives were absolutely fantastic with me, they sat and listened to me as I cried with pure exhaustion and feeling lost; I am not someone who would typically share my feelings but their approach made me feel comfortable opening up, as I didn't feel like I was being judged in any way. Nicola, Yvonne, Claire and Marie were all very supportive and offered me wonderful advice to help get my baby latching properly, help support me getting some rest, and when I took an infection they checked in on me after my visit to the hospital, multiple times, to make sure I was okay.

The care and compassion I received got me through though first 2 weeks and I looked forward to their visits as I knew that I would feel reassured after they left. I can't thank you enough for the support you provided me with, your visits were a beacon of positivity in my day and helped reduce my stress levels as I navigated through the difficulties of becoming a parent for the first time.
