"It was absolutely outstanding"

About: North Devon District Hospital / General surgery

(as a service user),

From the moment we arrived on the ward, the care that Dad received was second to none. It was absolutely outstanding! Debby, the Ward Clerk, was so welcoming, warm and friendly.

The whole ethos of the ward was one of warmth, genuine care and fun. Each and every member of staff could not do enough to ensure that Dad was well looked after, informed about his treatment and cared for with the utmost dignity and respect, whilst having lots of laughs along the way.

Particular thanks must go to his incredible nurses, Charlotte, Anne-Marie and Beccy. Our deepest gratitude, however, is to Tara, Ward Sister and Manager who always had a smile, kept a beautifully oiled ship running well and offered so much support and kindness. I am not in the least bit surprised that the nurses spoke so highly of her and said that Lundy Ward was the place that everyone wanted to work.

This is 100% attributed to her leadership. Thank you all from the very bottom of our hearts!

Dear Katefbr118,

We really do hope that your Dad is recovering well from his recent surgery and not getting up to too much mischief!

Thank you so much for taking time to write such lovely kind words about Lundy ward. I have shared them with the team.

We very much appreciate how scary it can be when coming into hospital so we do try our best to put patients at ease and usually a little humour helps. It is so lovely to hear that patients and their families are pleased with the care they received on Lundy and it really does give staff a boost and me a little tear!

Thank you once again and we wish your Dad well with his ongoing recovery.

Best wishes

Tara
