I phoned the surgery for an appointment as I had a cough for 3 months. I am asthmatic but I clearly stated it’s not my chest it’s ENT, sent to Dewsbury Dr said I shouldn’t have been sent as chest clear. I called asking for a Dr again sent to a physio despite seeing one previous and still struggling with knee and hip pain. Physio advised I get a bone density test just been diagnosed with osteoporosis. After having a huge issue with a receptionist 2 years ago who refused an appointment for 6 weeks and then being sent for a cancer investigation and having 3 months of worry because I was being investigated for two cancers one due to a blood marker. I feel this is the last straw. I have visited another surgery where the doctors have time explain and get a result. I had a serious chest infection 2023 when the Dr called no records showed as an asthmatic that my peak flow had been checked since B4 2017 that’s 6 years. So another occasion I was directed to a nurse after a blood test showing my cholesterol was high, I’d tried 3 kinds of statins and was unable to take them due to side effects. My cholesterol was 9 she sent me away no medication. Left me until I spoke to a family member who is a doctor and was alarmed at the level and how long it has been left. I rang the pharmacist and he prescribed a non statin tablet and it’s going down to 5.6 at the last check. I have recently seen a nurse who is based at Birkenshaw and she’s outstanding. A lot of the nurses are but I feel like the surgery is a cattle market and it’s pot luck if you actually get anything resolved. The receptionist think they can diagnose over the phone, but if you ask them for a result they say I’m not clinical so you’ll have to wait for an appointment. Oh another time I had a pain in my side, directed to A&E, went the Dr sent me to Pinderfields to the admissions department as suspected appendix or burst syst. lucky the Dr I saw found I had a groin strain and dismissed me, I can’t fully blame the surgery but if I could have seen a Dr that day I’m sure he would have diagnosed a groin strain. Lucky the Dr at Pinderfields read the notes and said, you shouldn’t be here pressed the pain and found out what it was or I could have been in surgery. I was told by NHS England during Covid to take vitamin D I have taken it since no one has ever followed up the level unless I ask, a recent result came back a deficient despite me taking 6000mg of D3 when I asked why is it not being absorbed no one could answer. So I am transferring to another surgery whilst the appointments have got better the service still lacks
