Weekly power up sessions - invited by Susanne, my husbands Parkinson’s specialist nurse. I found these sessions pivotal to our diagnosis to gain valuable insight into this disease, but also information and support within the group, meeting other families in the same situation, guest speakers weekly totally insightful, we learnt a lot of what we can do to support daily life and ways to mitigate symptoms, time/ information that maybe with consultants clinic we would not have known, given time constraints.
The hour with other support families separately helped me openly talk of things I feel we maybe I am struggling with, the trust we have of each other in that room and can support each other, shared learnings, just people to listen. My hubby has acted on more exercise , eating habits , positive mindset following these group sessions! Truly outstanding this is on offer to us, fantastic organisation/ Information, making friendships! It’s fun, conclusive of all levels /ages , life changing for us!
Susanne is a truly amazing person who give her life work to this amazing service and to be on hand along with her team for us in times of uncertainty.
I am sad these weekly meetings are ending, and I would promote anyone in our situation if offered/available to attend.
