"Would recommend separate waiting room"

About: Sidwell Street Clinic / Exeter Sexual Health

(as a service user),

Had an appointment at DSH following an incident. Staff were amazing. Kind, courteous and didn't feel rushed. Only thing i would recommend is maybe a separate waiting room for referral from SARC as when you still feel vulnerable, being sat in a waiting room with people laughing/talking on loud speaker on their phones etc was a bit overwhelming seeing as the referrals are pretty soon after the incident.

Hi waterrb68,

I am sorry you have recently been through such a difficult time. I'm really glad you have managed to attend our service for follow-up care after SARC, and it's good to read that the team were kind and courteous during your appointment, and that you felt well looked after.

Thanks for the constructive feedback about your waiting room experience. I understand this may have been quite overwhelming for you. We do have mini sub-waiting areas in the clinical area of the building which can be used by patients who would find sitting in the main waiting area too difficult. We want patients to feel they can ask reception for this type of help so these areas are accessible. Based on your feedback, we are going to make some information about this option more visible at reception. I hope this makes a real difference to patients who attend in future.

Thanks for helping us see how we can improve the service. We really appreciate the feedback.

Best wishes,

April Brooks, Lead Nurse

HI waterrb68,

I just wanted to update you and let you know that in response to your feedback, we have developed the poster below and displayed it in our reception and main waiting area in the Exeter clinic.

I hope this makes a difference to patients like yourself, who may attend feeling quite overwhelmed and need somewhere quieter to wait.

Thanks for helping us to improve our service!

Best wishes, April Brooks
