"I felt safe during STD test"

About: Sidwell Street Clinic / Exeter Sexual Health

(as the patient),

Had an STD test after an unfortunate and uncomfortable incident. The male doctor who did my testing was really considerate of the fact that I did not want to be examined, and instead taught me how to take the tests myself in the room in order for him to send off. He even offered to leave the room. I felt safe and able to get these tests done for my health after such a previous bad experience and I’m grateful for that.

Hi Ummy,

I'm sorry to hear of your situation and previous bad experience getting tested.

We are always happy to accommodate patient preference for whether you want to be seen by a male or female clinician, so never feel awkward to ask at reception

I'm so glad to hear that your wishes were respected in relation to examination and that you were explained the process of taking your own swabs.

We are a safe and confidential environment so never feel worried about coming in to see us. Please call us on either 0300 303 3989 or via our website for online booking.

Many Thanks

Emma
