"Great help and support "

About: Oldham Family Practice

Attended a menopause consultation today following a recent menopause awareness event. Have been putting off contacting the practice as I felt I didn’t not know where to start and which complaint to start with. The invite to the awareness event came at the right time giving me the push I needed to make the first move in my search for help. The doctors present were welcoming, calm and understanding and made me feel “normal” with regards to all the little niggles I had around my health. By attending the event, it gave me the confidence I needed to make an appointment for a menopause consultation. I was not aware this was an option, so this brought me welcome relief. The doctor spoke with such passion and it was evident how knowledgeable she was on the subject. During my consultation I was given the time and opportunity to tell my story. I was not rushed and I did not feel judged. I was also asked what it was that I wanted. I felt listened to and empowered to make informed an informed decision of my treatment. I was not coerced into treatments I was unsure about. My thoughts and ideas were then explored and we were able to come up with a plan of care together. I feel very lucky that we have a doctor so understanding and so knowledgeable on the menopause. A doctor who is passionate in supporting women going through this confusing and sometimes frightening part of their life. I am so very thankful to be on this journey now knowing that excellent support is out there. I only hope that more women who are on their journey through this challenging time are able to access support such as I have received. Thank you to my doctor today and Oldham Family Practice.
