I am writing this message as I am frustrated and angry at the care I am receiving within the gynaecology team in Altnagelvin.
In November 2024 I was told I had a small haemorrhage ovarian cyst which had ruptured. I was admitted due to my increase in CRP. Within this time, I did not see any member of the gynae team. The plan was rescan ultrasound in 6 weeks post discharge. I had heard no word within the 6 weeks and my GP had to push for this.
I was then finally given a date for my ultrasound. During the scan I was told that I will need to be seen by the gynaecologist team as the cyst is still present. My GP had told me after this that I was red flagged to see the gynae team and I needed a MRI.
I waited 6+ weeks before seeing a gynae dr. My GP requested a tumour marker test as ovarian cancer is present in my family. This came back raised. When I eventually seen the dr, they were no help. All they did was more bloods. I was told that my MRI won’t be until April.
I am still chasing my tail to get my results from the bloods taken that day, which was sent as urgent. Every time I ring the secretary, it’s the same answer. It is shocking the length of time you have to wait on things which it should be a priority as I am red flagged.
I am a nurse myself, I know the pressure NHS is facing, but it’s a disgrace that they can not prioritise red flag referrals within the time fame.
I have been off work since November due to the symptoms I am experiencing and my mental health has took a massive toll. I have tried to get back to work but OH has put me off.
Due to this I have to go down the route of private to try and get my life back and get back caring for other people.
