I recently saw an endocrinologist and wanted to share my experience. I came in with specific concerns — I had recently had a thyroid ultrasound, and my gynaecologist mentioned that it didn’t look good and strongly recommended I follow up with a specialist. I also wanted to check for diabetes, as I’ve had prediabetes in the past and was on medication for it. Lately, I’ve been experiencing very similar symptoms again.
Unfortunately, the doctor refused to order any tests, saying I had them done a year ago and they were normal. I find that quite irresponsible — lab results can change over time, especially when it comes to thyroid function and glucose metabolism. What’s more, I felt like the doctor wasn’t truly listening to me. They interrupted me several times and I couldn’t even finish explaining my symptoms without being cut off. It really felt like they were dismissing me rather than taking my concerns seriously.
