In November 2013 I had my first daughter in Wishaw General (delivered by Leanda, who was an amazing support and worked beyond her shift to see baby arrive) and on 9th January 2017 my second daughter was also born there. I can wholeheartedly say on both occasions the care was exemplary.
With both my births I utilised hypnobirthing and had clear birth plans which centred around this. My birth experience second time around was another well supported process - from triage to post natal. Unfortunately I can't recall the name of the midwife who saw me in triage, but she was very reassuring and immediately respectful of my birth plan requests and the fact I was hypnobirthing.
Having been found to be in active labour on arrival I was immediately moved to the labour ward where Nikki took over my care. Again she reassured me, ensured I was as comfortable as possible and supported my birth plan choices. At change of shift Jane took over my care and made my birthing process a hugely positive experience. Her caring and supportive demeanour really shines through. She was a constant support, explained everything clearly and kept my husband and I informed, showed interest in us and motivated me in my moments of doubt! I cannot praise her highly enough. Even little things like making my hubby a cup of tea, asking us our story of how we met, to giving us both a cuddle as she ended her shift really made a big difference. Jane is a credit to the service.
We had a brief overnight stay in post natal and again cannot fault the care we received. When an experience is made so much more positive by the staff encountered it seems only right to say a massive thank you and let maternity staff (especially Jane) know how much you're appreciated.
"A massive thank you!"
