Recently I accompanied my mother to the Wishaw General Hospital A&E department. After being triaged we were helped through to a cubicle where my mum underwent further testing and initial treatment.
Understandably this process takes time and the wait can be anxious and upsetting for the patient and their family.
Although the care and attention of the medical and nursing staff was excellent, the cup of coffee and kind words offered by volunteer Nicola made such a difference.
This simple act made a stressful situation seem more normal and gave a welcome distraction from the sometimes scary surroundings.
Please pass on our thanks to whoever initiated this scheme and also to the volunteers who make it happen.
Nicola- you will make a great doctor!
"A very welcome cup of coffee"
