In April I had a verucca lasered from my foot under general anaesthetic on a day bed unit at Ninewells Hospital. All went well with the procedure. The after care though from the hospital was not too good. Being told not too walk on the foot but not given crutches( had to buy a walking stick to get about). Was given a blue Velcro shoe to wear for going home which did not stay on well.
On discharge I was informed a letter will be sent out for a plastics nurse appointment the following week, which it was, as with a date to see the consultant. But during that time between discharge and nurse appointment had to add extra padding or remove and repad dressing 3 times (able to do myself as a nurse) and on the day before visiting plastics nurse the primary dressing became hard due to dry blood ( informed to keep dressing on until seen by plastics nurse which was 9 days post procedure) this caused small sore area to form which now has healed. I was informed it could take about 2-3 weeks before I could get back to work but it has taken much longer as due to the pain I have unable to wear a closed shoe (open sandal worn) this is still happening now 5 weeks later although have had a trainer on for very short periods in the past 2 days but still sore.
I am going back to work next week but on office duty until I can tolerate wearing a shoe. I have been able to drive but not far. I am now able to put foot flat on floor to walk, it is sore but tolerable. Have cut back on pain relief also in the past week. The plastics nurses I see have been very good and dressing foot weekly, I do dressing in between time.
