My Autistic Son collapsed at school and injured his wrists.
I took him to Grantham A&E, which was very busy.
We were seen very quickly and my son was given lots of tests to find out why he collapsed and had X-rays on both wrists.
The nurses were phenomenal in understanding my son's individual needs, the Doctor was very thorough and all explained what they were doing and what they discovered, at each step.
They suspect my son collapsed due to POTS and he has greenstick fractures to both wrists.
The ladies in Plaster Room were fantastic, they explained what they were doing and how to look after his temporary plasters.
We went back to fracture clinic the next day (went above and beyond to get us that appointment) which was very busy. The wait was made much easier by them letting us know the order in which we were going to be seen (that works really well for waiting patients, especially when clinic is delayed, as you know you can get a drink or go to the toilet. This should be done in all clinics)
The staff at fracture clinic were also fantastic and we returned to the lovely ladies in plaster room, they were brilliant with my son. Gave him his choice of plaster (black with red stripes!)
What could have been a very traumatic experience for him, was made very calm and soothing thanks to the fantastic care given by Grantham Hospital staff.
Thank you to them all for taking such good care of my boy.
"Fantastic care"
