For a long time I have struggled with my eating. For years I would restrict myself and over the top control in order to loose weight. It was not until I have completely lost control and my eating habits would control my everyday life when I decided I needed help or I would go crazy.
I went to my GP and was referred to the St. Georges Community service in Sheffield where I was diagnosed with bulimia, binge eating and body dysmorphia.
I started a therapy with Ms. O and could not help her enough. This therapy was for myself very emotion and hard work but after attending a session every week for approx. 2 months I have not only over came the eating disorder but also learned how to accept my body and not allow food control my mood.
Before the therapy I would wake up in fear every day thinking wether today I will loose control over food again I would also think about it as a last thing before going to bed. I would fear going out for meals as even one piece of chocolate could trigger a binge. Now all of this is gone.
Part of my therapy was planning my meals and sticking to them. I have learned that eating normal will not make me gain weight but make myself and body satisfied and reduce the cravings.
I have also done a mirror exposure which helped me with accepting my body and getting rid of the body dysmorphia. Finally I stopped focusing on the 'issue' areas of my body and seen myself as a whole.
I eat normal now and can allow myself to have a treat without feeling guilt.
I could have never done thins without Ms. O, who has always been here for me wether I had a bad or good week. The therapy sometimes will feel hard and you will feel hopeless but just 2 weeks in you will be able to see more brighter days than before and towards the end you can be completely cured and become a happier person.
Also I just would like to add that before binge eating I would weight 10kg less than what I do now but I was less accepting of my body than what I am now!
If you struggle with eating just like I have done do not hesitate see a specialist. They know what they are doing and can change your life completely around!
