"Awful "

Got referred by my gp for talking therapies. Had to wait for this appointment on the phone for 16 weeks! Had a phone call and then had to wait over a week for someone to get back to me to then be told that them and their supervisor felt like that couldn’t help me. I feel like they didn’t listen to me properly and that they are just passing on the problem. Sometimes we know the reasons as to why we feel the way we do, but just because we know the reasons doesn’t mean we want to be referred elsewhere. You say you want to support people with anxiety, depression and other mental health issues, but obviously you don’t. I have depression and anxiety and I feel like I was not listened to properly at all.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know of your experience, and I apologise for the service that you recieved when you were referred to our services.

I will pass your comments on to the senior manager for the Talking Therapies and ask that he responds to your concerns regarding the waiting time and the reasons why you were not offered a service at this time. If you would like us to look specifically into your case, please email me at alison.vanlaar@somersetft@nhs.uk and I will pass on your name and details.
