Just returned from Accident & Emergency Department at Monklands Hospital.
My granddaughter sustained an injury to her right foot on Monday but did not initially tell us that a stone slab fell onto it.
Went to A&E this evening and on approaching reception we were informed that the waiting time could be up to 8 hours as both sides of the department were exceptionally busy.
The receptionist then said that it may be best for us to return tomorrow.
There was no signpost for the reception and no waiting times displayed.
We felt that our granddaughter should at least have been triaged by a health care professional.
I asked if they could at least provide some tape in order to splint her toes but we were advised to go to the chemist.
I am led to believe that the service provided at Monklands Hospital Emergency Department is exemplary however I have to say that we are very disappointed with the lack of care offered.
"Accident & Emergency visit."
