Had a digestive complaint that caused bloating for a few hours if I ate or certain items, only this time I could no pass anything at all and had a catheter fitted for a month. Catheter removed painfully but failed, a new catheter fitted when bag emptying and stood up it felt like peeing broken glass. When a doctor appeared he suggested surgery, I was surprised as I had no tests and had no symptoms of prostate problems a few hours before catheterisation he then did a digital rectal exam which was ok if slightly enlarged, another then said my prostrate could have enlarged internally.
I then ended up in the RAH neurological ward for another problem. When my catheter was blocked for two days I was left in pain for hours and I felt ignored. On the third day, my catheter was removed painfully but could pass after about 4mins but could later only pass some blood. At no time was a scan or given antibiotics or was I aware of a urine test, as it had been cloudy with sediment at the bottom. I am awaiting a reply from my GP, other that I do not know how to proceed.
"Acute urinary retention"
