My daughter was admitted to QMC for treatment following an overdose on Thursday evening. The care from the hospital was excellent, despite clear staffing problems. However, her discharge from the ward was delayed by several hours because the CAMHS crisis team didn't have anyone to send to review her. They reportedly told the ward nurse who phoned that they only had one person working. That's completely unacceptable - CAMHS crisis is surely a priority service.
My daughter's mental health started to deteriorate during the lengthy wait for a review (which she finds completely pointless anyway) and by the time a staff member did arrive on the ward (about 4 hours after they were called), she was unwilling to engage and said very little.
Staffing needs to be sorted out in this team as it was the only weak link in the treatment she received at QMC.
The clinician who attended was apologetic but I didn't feel the review added anything clinically useful.
"Very long delay with CAMHS crisis"
