I was feeling low and lost. I have Aspergers Syndrome without learning disability. I suffer from terrible social isolation and there are no suitable ASD support groups. I am very wary of MH services as I believe many workers ( a high %age of ) do not have much knowledge of Aspergers and even less in my situation with A.S. and polymath learning ability.
I am aware that meltdowns can mirror the symptoms of MH disorders. I find it very frustrating when I call and am bombarded with questions. Today I felt treated like a Suicide Risk as when I cant manage my meltdowns, frustration and hopelessness combined with 15 years of social isolation mean I lose the will to live ( I mean lost appetite, loss of personal care, loss of physical ability to manage my home due to joint pain). When I'm just needing to be heard (listened to) I'm bombarded with "safeguarding questions". This morning I mentioned that I was diabetic. None of the questioning investigated as to whether I had checked my blood sugar levels. Later I did check and my BG was very high - this causes me to feel unwell. Being somewhat disconnected to my emotions I was unable to "label" or "name" (in realtime) what emotions I was struggling with. I was hit with 20+ questions in a 10 minute call and hung up saying I'd prefer to speak to another worker due to "Spanish inquisition" treatment. I called back twice and was put thru to the same worker.
Later I noted high blood sugar, took additional insulin and 2 hours later I felt well. I refuse MH NHS care as I'm highly concerned "people profiling" symptom checklisting would result in a diagnosis of a condition of severity which could enable forced medication. The NHS would rather Chemical Cosh me than provide services that I could trust. NHS Forth Valley have no psychologists whith a remit to support those with a high IQ yet have HF ASD. Likewise ASD 3rd sector providers are only contracted to Local Authorities to provide services for those with ASD AND learning difficulties. Mental Health support groups are prejudicial to my mental health
