About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Emergency department

(as a relative),

I had to take my elderly mother into A&E with chest pain. 

All staff we met from reception, nurses, radiology were very courteous and kind. However, mum’s doctor, Dr Williamson, was excellent. Her personality and mannerisms were over and above in kindness. She was very down to earth, open and honest. She put my mum and myself at ease. She very clearly and precisely explained all tests, why they were completed, and outcomes of each result. Thankfully, mum was OK to be discharged that night. 

Also may I add that the cleaning staff worked continuously to tidy up bottles /papers after patients left the waiting room. They brushed/hoovered numerous times during our wait, and toilets were kept clean despite large volume of public use.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback about your time in ED recently. It is great to hear you had such a positive journey and the staff were welcoming courteous and attend your mums needs with honesty and integrity.

I will pass on your praise to Dr Williamson she will be very grateful to receive it.

You are very right in what you say about our support service team. They work hard in very challenging environment to provide clean space for people to wait and for staff to work in. I will pass on your thanks to Irene and her team for their continued efforts in ED.

I hope your mum is now doing much better. Thank you again for sharing your feedback, it is important to our team to receive such feedback for service improvement opportunities.
