I am very claustrophobic and any form of scan is a big deal for me, I am unable to do an MRI scan ( last time I had over 15 years ago was done under general anaesthetic which is not an option nowadays).
I recently presented at the CT pod in the QEUH and by the time I got there had worked myself up to a very nervous state - this is irrational I fully understand, however out of my control.
Experience has taught me that the staff doing the scan can make all the difference, some don't understand my issues, however on this occasion I want to call out Neil and Danielle who were nothing short of the most caring and professional team I have come across.
Neil ( I am hoping that is his name) was so patient with ensuring that my PICC line could be used and he explained every step of the way which was really appropriate as I was kept informed. Danielle explained to me ( in response to my questions) where I was positioned in regards to the scanner and how long the scan would take which was a great help to me.
I cannot thank these professional, caring and empathetic members of the NHS who are an asset to the organisation.
"The most caring and professional team I have come across"
